Age Group Guidelines

FYI: The U in front of the ages stands for Under, So U5-U19 is for players 4 to 18 years of age!

BAYSL follows the FYSA recommendations for age group appropriate field and team sizes.

If you are playing/have played at another club this year (since August) you will need to complete a Dual Roster Form (below).  This form allows the Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA) to roster you to two clubs.  It will need to be signed by the current club registrar and the BAYSL registrar.

Fall / Winter Recreational League Information
Our Recreational League has three divisions: Coed Recreational, All Girls TARSA and Coed TARSA.

Coed Recreational DivisionThis is for players in age groups U5, U6, U7, U8, U9, U10, U12, and U14 (ages 4 - 13 years old).  It is our in-house recreational program with all regular season games played at the J.C. Handly Complex.  For these age groups we are able to field enough teams to keep the program in-house.  These teams start practicing the first week of November.  Practices are held at complexes throughout the Brandon area.  The younger age groups (U5 & U6) practice once a week, while the older age groups usually practice twice weekly.  Practices are between the hours of 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.  Games start the first week of December and run through March. Games are mainly on Saturdays between 8:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. and Sundays between 1:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.  Occasionally, games will be scheduled for Friday nights.

All Girls TARSA DivisionThis is for female players in age groups U10, U12, U14, U16 and U19 (ages 9 - 18 years old).  For this division there are not enough All Girls teams within BAYSL to have an in-house league.  We must compete with teams from other clubs within the framework of the Tampa Area Recreational Scheduling Association (TARSA).  Participating teams are generally from Hillsborough and Southern Pasco Counties and you can expect travel times of up to an hour for away games.  Home games are played at the J.C. Handly Complex.  Practices begin in late September/early October and are usually at Dover Field.  Practices are twice weekly and are between the hours of 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.  Games start at the end of October and run through February.

Coed TARSA DivisionThis is for male and female players in age groups U16 and U19 (ages 14-18 years old).  For this division there are not enough teams to form a BAYSL only league and we must compete with teams from other clubs in the TARSA area.  Again, participating teams are generally from Hillsborough and Southern Pasco Counties and you can expect travel times of up to an hour for away games.  Home games are played at the J.C. Handly Complex.  Practices begin in late September/early October and are usually at Dover Field.  Practices are twice weekly and are between the hours of 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.  Games start at the end of October and run through February.

Passes are Mandatory
Players playing at BAYSL are required to have a FYSA or TARSA players pass. This is included in the registration fee.

Volunteers
BAYSL is a volunteer organization.  Each family is asked to pledge at least FOUR (4) hours of volunteer time per player to BAYSL each season.  This helps us keep the cost of registration down.  We always need people throughout the year to help form teams, sort uniforms, keep stats and standings, work in the concession stand, help with maintenance items, notarize signatures, act as Site Directors, Field Marshalls...you name it!   Please ask any board member how you can help.

Spring Soccer General Information

Spring Soccer typically begins either the last week of March or the first week in April. This is a less formal program emphasizing small sided games 4 v 4 or 5 v 5 (smaller fields, less players, no goalies). Spring Season emphasizes skill and fun. Soccer is a game, period! We all need to take time to remember we are here for the kids and the love of the game and to give the kids a life shaping, positive experience that will be part of their lives forever. We all need to remind ourselves that there is no place for foul language, abusive behavior directed at anyone and never physical violence, implied or actual. Soccer is a game, play it, watch it, coach it, volunteer but always remember to enjoy it and let others around have the same opportunity
