TAMPA, Fla. – The Brandon Flames U13 Boys stormed through the competition at the 2011 Super Y-League North American Finals and they have the hardware to prove it. Aside from the championship medals Julian Hall, Raheem Taylor-Parkes and Chase Hovious picked up, they also were named to the 2011 All-Tournament Team. Hall and Taylor-Parkes were also Co-Golden Boot winners with Kendall SC’s Andy Alvarez with five goals apiece.

The 2011 All-Tournament Teams were selected by USL staff based on tournament statistics, ODP nominations submitted by tournament coaches, and recommendations from the USL Technical Staff. The 2011 Super Y-League North American Finals were held December 2-6 in Brandon and Land O’ Lakes, Florida.

The Central Jersey Spartans, 2011 runners-up, are also well represented with midfield standout Chaz Burnett and forward Jalil Blalock earning spots. The duo combined for nine goals and two assists in their run to the title game.

Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC forward Joel Padmore was selected after a superb tournament, pacing his side with two goals and an assist.

Damacus SC’s Martin Foray, the Chicago Fire’s Cristian Sanchez, and Atlanta Fire United’s Diego Manrique were selected as the team’s defenders after their solid defensive outings at the Finals.

Goalkeeper Aidan Aylward guided the Ottawa Fury to the semifinals, while keeping two clean sheets along the way.

The U13 boys fell behind early surrendering two goals in the opening quarter of an hour of play. Brandon FC battled back to score three unanswered goals and capture the first national championship won in the history of the club. “Tremendous effort from the boys after going down two goals. They relaxed and stuck to the plan and deserved to win it,’ said Boys Director of Coaching Clay Roberts. Following the conclusion of the U13 match, the U14 kicked off their final and did not disappoint capturing the second championship of the day. “Having the ability to host the event and win two championships at our park was an exciting experience. The professionalism of the USL is outstanding and the Super Y League North American Championship was a top notch event,” said Girls Director of Coaching Randy Belli. It is an exciting time for the membership family of Brandon FC. Roberts said, “This championship is just one indicator of many things to come. Not only are these teams doing well, but every one of our groups is doing tremendous. We are very excited about where the club is headed.”

The event is set for December 2-6 at the J.C. Handley Sports Complex and the Land O’Lakes Recreation Complex.

The Land O’Lakes Recreation Complex has served as a site for the finals for the past several years, while the J.C. Handley Sports Complex makes its debut as the main site for the annual event. The nine-field J.C. Handley Sports Complex recently underwent a multi-million dollar upgrade to become one of the preeminent soccer complexes in Florida.

The 2011 Super Y-League North American Finals will kick off at 9 a.m. on Friday, December 2 with group play, with the championship matches set for each age group on Tuesday, December 6.

International Soccer Academy Headed to Tampa
 
PDL, W-League & Super-20 to begin in 2012; USL PRO in 2013
 
TAMPA, Fla. – USL is pleased to announce that VisionPro Sports Institute (VSI) has chosen to establish an international youth soccer academy in Tampa. As part of the new project, VSI will also operate teams in the PDL, W-League and Super-20 League starting in 2012, with a USL PRO franchise scheduled to begin play in Tampa in 2013.
 
VSI established its first youth soccer academy earlier this year in La Manga, Spain, and is partnering with the respected Brandon FC Flames youth club to form its newest academy. The agreement is another milestone for VSI as it continues to develop its international academy business, which provides elite development coaching for young players. VSI is supported by both current and former English Premier League players and managers, many of whom act as mentors to the VSI academy scholars. Additional academies are expected soon in Portugal and the Far East.
 
“This is a great day for the Tampa soccer community, most notably youth players and fans,” USL CEO Alec Papadakis said. “Not only will an elite academy be established so top young talent can pursue their professional dreams, but Tampa will have new professional and elite men’s and women’s amateur teams to support for years to come. Brandon FC played one National Premier League opponent, Jacksonville United, winning 5-1. In the Pre-Academy game, Brandon FC drew SC United Battery. After a tough start and going down 1-0, the boys in blue changed their approach and came out with a 2-1 lead at the half. The second half would prove to be a defining moment for BFC. “We defended well as a team. The boys are starting to understand the shape and are really coming together as a premier team”. After keeping SC United off the score sheet, BFC would go ahead 3-1 with about 5 minutes remaining. Throwing players forward, SC United would sneak a late goal for the match to end 3-2. Over the weekend, BFC would score 8 goals for, and 3 goals against. This meeting is an assembly of all of its members, affiliates, and administrators. The three day event kicks offs the new season with educational workshops, proposed rule changes, and recognition among all the major soccer clubs in Florida.

The Brandon Area Youth Soccer League is proud to announce it has been recognized and awarded the FYSA 2011 Recreational Club of the Year. This highly prized award was presented to the BAYSL staff for the exceptional commitment displayed towards our Classic programs.
The BAYSL Classic programs have been recognized as the model of recreational soccer programs in Florida. BAYSL offers six major Classic events designed to be fun for the players while teaching character and values.
·         The Fall Classic Season is a mini season designed to provide an opportunity for recreational players to play an early season after a long summer break.
·         The Winter Classic Season is the main attraction within the recreational calendar and features an opportunity for each player to meet new soccer friends and learn the game from the best recreational coaches in the state.

·         The Spring Classic Season offers the unique appeal of small sided games in an informal atmosphere designed for player development.  
·         The Brandon Cup is the largest and oldest recreational tournament in Florida. Last year over one hundred teams participated in this event. 
·         The Fall and Spring Bridge Academies offer developing recreational players an enhanced learning environment as an introduction to competitive soccer.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (May 10, 2011) – US Club Soccer has announced the creation of the Florida Premier League, the most recent addition to US Club Soccer’s National Premier Leagues (NPL), which are leagues throughout the country with the highest level of competition in a given area.
 
The Florida Premier League, which will include the U-13 through U-18 boys’ and girls’ age groups, is comprised of seven clubs:
 

  • Brandon FC
  • Central Florida Kraze/Krush
  • Jacksonville United
  • Space Coast United
 
  • Tampa Bay United
  • Team Boca
  • West Pines United

The NPL now includes eight leagues across the country: the Florida Premier League, the Midwest Developmental League, the NorCal Premier League, the Northeast Pre-Academy League, the Northern Illinois Soccer League, the Oregon Premier League, the Southeast Pre-Academy League and the Texas Pre-Academy League.
 
“The creation of the Florida Premier League is another step in improving player development by creating more stable club and competition platforms for top players,” said Christian Lavers, US Club Soccer’s Executive Vice President. “Throughout the country, the NPL is bringing technical leaders of the youth game together to raise standards and create a more unified and improved player development model.”
 
“As it is a very fertile soccer market, we are pleased to take this step forward,” said Bill Sage, US Club Soccer’s Executive Director. “We also foresee expansion of the Florida Premier League in the future.”
 
Set to kick off in fall 2011, Florida Premier League participating teams will play each opponent home and away for a total of 12 games.
 
Florida Premier League champions, determined by points at the conclusion of the regular season, will compete at the inaugural National Premier Leagues Champions Cup in July 2012.
 
"We’re extremely excited to be a founding member of the Florida Premier League,” said Eric Dade, Jacksonville United’s Director of Soccer Operations. “The league’s standards of improving the everyday training environment coupled with competing in more meaningful games will help more players from the state of Florida reach their fullest potential. By participating in the NPL I feel we can put the emphasis back on player development and remove the focus of forming teams each year just to win games."
 
“The opportunity for enhanced player development through meaningful games while at the same time building a club culture is exactly what we wanted,” said John Duguid, Director of Coaching at Space Coast United.
 
"The timing couldn’t be better to create a league that caters to the full development of players in Florida,” said Hue Menzies, Executive Director of Central Florida Kraze/Krush. “This league brings more meaning to the word ‘club’ and not just a team within a club. This will force coaches and directors to be held accountable with the direction of US Club Soccer."
 
"We are very excited to be part of this progressive new league that US Club Soccer has brought to Florida,” said Bill D’Addio, Team Boca’s Director of Coaching. “All of the member clubs selected will now be able to offer the most competitive environment possible. About the National Premier Leagues (NPL):
The NPL offers a platform for long-term player development by providing consistent and meaningful games between the region’s top players and also provides opportunities for players to be scouted by U.S. Soccer national staff. Winners of each league within the NPL will qualify for US Club Soccer’s National Premier Leagues Champions Cup.
 
The NPL is an important component of US Club Soccer’s 10-year vision to refine the landscape for competitive youth soccer. The vision recognizes that:
 
  • Properly-structured youth soccer clubs are the vehicle through which player development does and must occur in the United States.
 
  • Clubs should play in leagues that provide meaningful games, allow establishment of the proper training-to-game ratio, and eliminate calendar congestion.
 
  • National Premier Leagues, as well as the best clubs, should be integrated in US Club Soccer’s id2 national identification and development program, include Player Development Programs in select local markets, and work closely with U.S. Soccer staff regarding player identification, and player and coach development.

TAMPA, Fla. - United Soccer Leagues announced today that the sixth annual Super-20 League North American Finals presented by Umbro would take place July 21-24, 2011 in Tampa, hosted by the Brandon Flames of the USL Super Y-League. The Thursday-Sunday event will bring together the top 17- to 20-year-old men’s and women’s talent from clubs throughout the United States and Canada.

The North American Finals will be contested at the Brandon Flames’ J.C. Handley Sports Complex, located just minutes from downtown Tampa. The nine-field complex recently underwent a multi-million dollar upgrade to become one of the preeminent soccer complexes in Florida. Brandon was selected through a bid process involving several USL youth clubs.

“We are extremely excited to bring the 2011 Super-20 North American Finals to the Tampa Bay area,” USL Senior Director of Youth League Development Brian D’Amico said. “The J.C. Handley Complex offers first-class facilities for the teams that will be competing for national championships, and we are confident the Brandon Flames will raise the level for the event.”

There are currently six geographic divisions in the men’s Super-20 League with 55 teams hoping to earn spots at the North American Finals, while the women’s Super-20 League features 29 teams in five divisions. Teams in those divisions will qualify during the regular season to earn the right to compete in the finals. Bid allocations for the Super-20 Finals will be announced later this week.

As the only U20 men’s and women’s North American amateur league and a member of the U.S. Adult Soccer Association, the USL Super-20 League provides the platform for top 17- to 20-year-olds in the United States and Canada to compete at the elite level. While serving as a reserve team system for many W-League and Premier Development League teams, the USL Super-20 League features teams competing in regional divisions, consisting of 8-10 regular season matches throughout the summer months.

Teams must battle through the arduous Super-20 League regular season to earn spots at the North American Finals where they will face competition from the Mid Atlantic, Midwest, New England, Pacific Southern California, Rocky Mountain, South Atlantic, and Northwest divisions.

With much anticipation and excitement, BAYSL is celebrating the completed renovations made by Hillsborough County at our J.C. Handly Athletic Complex.  J. C. Handly, once known for both softball and soccer fields, is now entirely soccer maintained and operated by BAYSL, one of the largest soccer organizations in South Florida and the 4th largest in the state.  

BAYSL is a club that offers something for everyone, from U-5 to U-19 in our coed recreational program with the U-12 through U-19 teams traveling (TARSA), to our TOPSoccer program for the mentally and physically challenged. We have an excellent competitive program and even an adult league.

TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, age 5 and up, who has a mental or physical disability. The goal is to enable the thousands of young athletes with disabilities to become valued and successful members of Florida Youth Soccer and the US Youth Soccer family. There is no cost for the families. It is a corporate and individually sponsored program. The TOPS Soccer program at BAYSL is the largest program in Florida and the oldest, being founded in 1998.
